This is the most difficult time. I'm doing physical therapy seven days a weeks, five one hour sessions in the gym, and two hours in hydro therapy. To be honest, it's more than a little humbling. I've always been fit, always been able to tough it out, and within a few short months that's changed.
But that's not the hard part. I'll see my doctor in two weeks to gauge my progress, but I might not know if the stem cells have nestled in and are doing their job. People ask me if the treatment is working, and I don't know. I probably won't know for at least a couple more months, maybe as much as a year, and that's hard. Right now, waiting is the most difficult part of this process.
Like I said in an earlier post, I'm feeling positive. My leg is feeling better, but that could be from any number of things. So, the miracle may be taking place inside my knee as I sit here typing, but our celebration is on hold for the moment.
By the way, when I walked into my dentist's office the other morning wearing a pair of denim carpenter pants and a red plaid shirt, he said, "Ralph, you look like a Yooper this morning." Apparently he and his wife visit friends there often. It felt good to be recognized.
