I barely slept last night between anxiety over today's procedure and the increased pain in my knee. Psychosomatic? Who knows? But Donald Trump was there egging me on during the fits of sleep I got. I didn't even know he owned a stethoscope. (At the time I wrote this, the idea that Donald Trump could win a Presidential election was laughable - alas.)
We're up and getting ready for the three and one half hour drive to Pittsburgh. I take the first of my meds just past the Pennsylvania line. That's also when Cindy takes the wheel. Then half an hour later I do two more, and by the time we roll into the clinic parking lot, I should be literally feeling no pain.
So tell me how this works?
For six weeks I have been avoiding alcohol, Aleve, Tylenol, ibuprophen, aspirin, steroidal cortisone, and just about anything else proven to ease arthritis. I've been taking the herbal remedies the clinic recommends, especially curcumin, the active ingredient in turmeric, vitamin D, and omega threes. More on that later. Anyway, this body is a temple of medicinal restraint, all for the purpose of making for a smooth landing for my little stem cells, and now they hand me a wad of prescriptions and say, "Take a couple of these and a few of those?"
"How many?" I ask.
Two, three, four. Whatever you think you'll need."
What I need, Doctor, is a straight answer.
I eventually got an answer, but you see what I'm saying here.
Off to Pittsburgh. I'll catch you on the flip side.
